About LightMetrics
Founded in 2015 by six engineers from Nokia Research, LightMetrics was created with a clear mission: to make roads safer for drivers and fleets everywhere.
Today, that mission is being delivered through RideView, its AI-powered video telematics platform, which provides enterprise-grade driver monitoring, real-time coaching and fleet safety intelligence to telematics service providers, OEMs and fleet operators across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
LightMetrics has grown into a truly global SaaS business, with 230,000 cameras sold to date and 5 billion miles of driving data analysed every month.
One of the biggest challenges the company has overcome is the complexity of bringing advanced video technology to a fragmented global market. Fleets operate across different regions, hardware environments and technology ecosystems, while telematics providers need solutions that integrate with the platforms they already offer.
LightMetrics addressed this by building the entire RideView software stack in-house and making the platform hardware agnostic. It supports multiple camera configurations and provides APIs, fleet portals, applications, device management and real-time coaching, allowing partners to deploy video telematics without being tied to a single device or technology environment. The no-code platform can be deployed in weeks, without lengthy development work, helping partners bring new capabilities to market quickly.
This has enabled LightMetrics to take a different approach to the SaaS market. Rather than selling directly to fleets, the company works exclusively through a global network of white-label channel partners, including telematics service providers, fleet management companies and commercial vehicle manufacturers. Partners can therefore deliver advanced video safety capabilities under their own brand, while fleets can access video intelligence through technology relationships they already have.
LightMetrics has also helped drive the evolution of video telematics itself. The category has moved from cameras that simply record footage towards systems that use edge AI and real-time intelligence to identify risks, coach drivers and support better safety outcomes. RideView is designed around this shift, focusing on actionable insights rather than overwhelming fleets with video and data.
Safety and privacy remain central to this evolution. RideView can provide AI alerts without video recording and includes privacy controls, automatic blurring of faces and number plates, backend access controls and EU data residency. LightMetrics is also ISO 9001, 22301 and 27001 certified and GDPR-compliant.
With video telematics forecast to grow at 16% CAGR across the UK and EU, LightMetrics is helping make advanced safety intelligence a scalable part of the connected vehicle ecosystem. Its mission remains simple: use technology to make roads safer, while giving the partners and fleets deploying it the flexibility to do so at global scale.
