About SBS
SBS is a global financial technology company helping banks, lenders and financial institutions reimagine how they operate in an increasingly digital world. Trusted by more than 1,500 financial institutions and large-scale lenders across 80 countries, SBS powers the end-to-end digitisation of core banking, lending, compliance, payments and consumer and asset finance.
Founded in 2012 in Paris, France, as Sopra Banking Software, SBS has grown to more than 3,400 employees across 50 offices worldwide. The company built its reputation by solving one of the hardest problems in financial services, helping institutions modernise without abandoning the infrastructure they already run on. The team pioneered a cloud-native, SaaS, composable approach that lets institutions modernise at scale without ripping out existing infrastructure. That meant years of product development, cross-regional regulatory work and partnerships with clients ranging from Societe Generale and Santander to Mercedes-Benz and Toyota FS.
This year, SBS centred its strategy on the idea that AI adoption in banking stalls because of the legacy technology underneath it. Rather than building a separate AI layer for banks to bolt on, SBS embedded AI directly into the core banking software institutions already run on, through SBS AI Foundation. The approach is built around data sovereignty, governed to meet the regulatory requirements banks actually operate under. In practice, that means a relationship manager at a bank can walk into client conversations with AI-generated profiles and likely needs already surfaced.
As that work took shape, SBS deepened its reach across very different markets and geographies. In the UK, Nottingham Building Society completed a full core banking migration. In Africa, BGFI Bank Group chose SBS to underpin the next generation of digital banking across the continent, while WesBank, one of the world’s largest vehicle and asset finance providers, committed to a five-year renewal.
SBS also launched SBS Lending Suite, a modular, cloud-based, API-driven platform to modernize credit management, and a cloud-native Digital Branch platform giving UK banks a modern front end. In the United States, where floor plan and wholesale lenders are under pressure to centralise data before AI can deliver on its promise, SBS built a dedicated leadership team to prepare lenders for AI-driven transformation.
Analyst recognition reflects the trajectory. Everest Group ranks SBS eighth globally in its Top 50 Core Banking Technology Providers 2026, and Forrester named SBS a Strong Performer in Digital Banking Engagement Platforms in its Q2 2026 report.
