About Jai, Clemente and Zeus
In just two years, Jai Kanwar and Clemente Theotokis have gone from London-based students to co-founders of a £16m start-up.
The now 23-year-old entrepreneurs officially launched Zeus in 2020, while finishing up their respective degrees. The logtech start-up has since established itself as a disruptor in the road freight industry, using its next-generation platform to streamline outdated systems and reduce carbon emissions.
Zeus is an innovative web-based SaaS platform and driver app. The tech enables shippers to cut out five or more intermediaries and book, manage, and live-track shipments all in one place, cutting admin by 71%. And the driver app gives hauliers easy access to digital workflows, where they can pick up work and get paid, quickly. Through Zeus, hauliers can see profits increase by 36% (based on 2021 review).
One significant way Zeus helps maximise efficiency is through reducing ‘empty legs’ – return journeys where trucks run empty. Up to 150,000 lorries travel on British roads daily with no cargo. In 2021, hauliers using Zeus were able to reduce empty runs by 22%.
Just six months after launch, Zeus landed its biggest client – AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer. It now serves more than 40 enterprise-level clients including Decathlon, Kellogg’s and P&G. With the recent addition of Primark, Zeus has expanded into Europe a year ahead of schedule, handling freight routes in France, Italy and the Czech Republic.
The freight matching platform currently handles 660,000 tonnes of cargo annually worth circa £6.6 billion. Zeus is now expanding into intermodal and HVO fuel, combining rail with low-emission road freight to offer complete end-to-end supply chain solutions that are making real reductions in CO2e emissions.
The Zeus platform and driver app coupled with the company’s commitment to excellent customer service are a game-changer for the British freight industry. The SaaS platform is simple and scalable, and by prioritising a strategic approach to development, Zeus has plenty of opportunity to grow.
