Lukango is a London-based insurtech startup founded in 2012 that provides new solutions and products specifically to microbusinesses. It was founded with the aim to champion these small businesses and protect them with easy-to-understand, custom insurance.
Lukango’s solutions and products allow their microbusinesses to flex and change their amount of protection depending on their business needs and growth, thus putting these microbusiness owners in control of their insurance plans.
By going deep rather than wide, focusing specifically on microbusinesses, Lukango can truly understand the needs of their customers and design products and experiences that are uniquely positioned to work for them.
Notably, Joanne was recently selected to be part of the Launchpad Programme’s Cohort, a 9-week programme designed to support black female founders succeed in entrepreneurship. Additionally, Joanne has received a number of awards, including the Women in Insurance’s Digital Champion of the Year 2019, Intelligent Insurer Magazine’s 2018 Rising Star Award and Insurance Business Magazine’s 2018 Young Guns Award.
Lukango has recently closed a successful £275k pre-seed round which will see funding deployed to accelerate the build and launch of its tailored products and platform.
