About Abubakar Salim and Silver Rain Games
Silver Rain Games was founded by London-based actor Abubakar in 2019. Abubakar who is known for his acting work in Assassin’s Creed Origins and HBO Max’s Raised By Wolves, has always had an interest in games since his childhood with games like Assassin’s Creed and World of Warcraft. He has stated that he “got into storytelling through games. So it just felt natural to start a games studio and create awesome content.” The inspiration for the studio came whilst filming Raised by Wolves, in South Africa.
Abubakar’s experience of working with Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed’s developers both increased his appreciation of game development and brought back his childhood fascination with games. Having acknowledged his lack of experience in game development Abubakar has worked hard to build a team around his vision and former BAFTA games Programme Manager Melissa Phillips joined him as Head of Studio.
In 2021, Silver Rain Games formed a partnership with Electronic Arts securing their Electronic Arts Original deal. EA “will provide funding to Silver Rain’s unannounced IP, as well as guidance and support in the team’s journey to bring a fresh perspective to games and to the industry”. This partnership marks an exciting turn for the games studio and the game is set to be released in the near future. Abubakar has also founded the award-winning production and financing company Surgent Productions, they have their first feature film in pre-production.
