About Cloudways

Founded in 2012 and acquired by DigitalOcean in 2022, Cloudways is an intuitive, one-click managed cloud hosting platform. The platform features a web app management function that easily launches cloud servers for the deployment of WordPress, Magento, and PHP. Put simply, Cloudways lets users host WordPress and WooCommerce websites on top of a variety of cloud-hosting providers.

For Cloudways, our number one priority is to support the hosting needs of SMBs amidst the ongoing challenges caused by current macroeconomic headwinds (such as rising inflation and the cost-of-living crisis). However, there is a common challenge faced by SMB owners: Despite being able to provide value to their customers, they find themselves dedicating a significant amount of time to application and infrastructure management.

In response to these challenges, Cloudways emerged as a cost-effective and user-friendly solution. We introduced a comprehensive offering that combined application, infrastructure and cloud management.

With our offerings, we can better address the evolving needs and demands of SMBs. A particular urgent concern is security. The widespread adoption of remote work practices surged, consequently exposing SMBs to elevated cybersecurity risks.

We acknowledged the necessity to prioritise security and streamline workflows. As a result, our overarching vision has evolved to position us as a trusted partner that provides peace of mind to our customers. Through our solutions, we aid them in saving time, reducing costs and generating revenue.

To do this, Cloudways provides enterprise-grade security to protect against hackers and sophisticated threats using the ‘Cloudflare Enterprise’ feature. This feature sits at the top of the Cloudways platform to implement security protections across all business websites and can mitigate DDoS attacks in under 3 seconds via dedicated IP ranges.

In addition, every Cloudways account comes with:

  • Firewalls
  • End-to-end encryption
  • Two-factor Authentication
  • Suspicious device login control
  • GDPR Compliance and more

Many businesses struggle to keep up with security updates, a task that can prove both financially demanding and time-intensive. Cloudways has developed ‘SafeUpdates’. This solution guarantees that customers such as LokalEngage, a digital agency specialising in website design, can automatically detect updates and execute secure backups while embarking on security enhancement procedures. SafeUpdates has proven highly effective, eliminating LokalEngage’s need for manual security and website maintenance updates. This not only eliminates repetitive tasks prone to human error but also minimises potential entry points for cyberattacks.

With Cloudways, LokalEngage have managed to drastically cut down on the time spent updating websites, meaning they no longer spend 10 hours updating their websites. By adopting SafeUpdates, the LokalEngage team can focus on other areas of the business and can ensure that their client’s websites are always up-to-date and working with the newest and most secure technology.

For Cloudways, our goal is to support the hosting needs of SMBs whatever the challenge. In the future, you can expect to see us build additional security measures to help SMBs and start-ups optimise their web pages to remain safe and competitive.
