Samsung is bringing a new way to pay for everyday purchases, with the launch of its first credit card in the country.
Called the Samsung Galaxy Card, it is issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank on the Visa network and is available as both a virtual card and a premium metal physical card. Customers can use it for everyday shopping anywhere Visa is accepted, although Samsung has built the rewards programme around its own products and services.
Applications open to the general public on July 22, 2026. People can apply online, including when shopping at Samsung retail stores in the US. New cardholders can also earn an extra $200 in bonus cash rewards after spending $2,000 during the first 90 days after opening their account.
The launch comes just before Samsung introduces its latest foldable smartphones. SamMobile said the Galaxy Card will compete directly with Apple’s Apple Card, another credit card built around cash back rewards.
Who Can Use The Galaxy Card?
The Galaxy Card is launching for customers in the United States and works anywhere Visa is accepted. It is issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank, so cardholders have the choice between using the virtual version through Samsung Wallet or carrying the metal physical card.
Samsung made the card for people who already use Galaxy devices and Samsung services, but if you’d want to use it for everyday shopping at other retailers – you certainly can. So, people can earn cash rewards whether they are buying a new phone from Samsung or making just your everyday purchases.
People shopping for eligible Samsung products can also use the card’s financing option through Samsung’s website and retail stores, giving them another payment choice when buying devices and accessories.
How Do The Rewards Work?
So, the amount of cash rewards people earn would depend on where they shop, as well as how they pay.
Samsung gives 5% cash rewards on eligible purchases made directly through Samsung. This covers purchases from the main site, Samsung Experience Stores, the Samsung Shop app, the Galaxy Store and Samsung Care+ plans.

Using Samsung Wallet to pay earns 3% cash rewards. Eligible streaming subscriptions, such as Netflix, Disney+ and Spotify, earn 2% cash rewards, and every other eligible purchase earns 1%.
Cardholders also receive 20% off a Samsung VIP Advantage membership. Anyone buying or renewing that membership earns 5% cash rewards, subject to Samsung’s terms.
How Does This All Go Into The Galaxy Ecosystem?
Samsung has built the Galaxy Card to work together with Samsung Wallet to make it easy for people to keep everything they need in one place.
Once the card is added to Samsung Wallet, it can be stored with compatible payment cards, identification documents, boarding passes, digital keys and other supported items. Samsung says the Wallet is protected through Samsung Knox, its on device security platform.
Woncheol Chai, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “For years, users have relied on Samsung products to enhance their daily life, from staying connected with friends, to relaxation, to productivity. Today, Samsung Galaxy Card offers users a new way to be rewarded every time you pay. Users are busy, they need a credit card that simplifies their life and offers them real value. Samsung Galaxy Card does both.”
Samsung says the card has been built to work naturally with the Galaxy ecosystem, giving people another reason to keep their payments, rewards and digital wallet in the same place.
What Do Barclays And Visa Say About The New Card?
Barclays says the partnership is designed to bring banking services into the digital tools people already use every day.
Denny Nealon, CEO of Barclays US Consumer Bank, said, “Partnering with Samsung is a strong example of Barclays partner first strategy and the innovation we’re bringing to the market with some of the world’s most recognised brands. Together, we’re creating seamless, rewarding digital banking capabilities and products that meet customers where they are, in their Samsung Wallet, and fit naturally into how they live, shop, and connect.”
Visa also sees the card as another example of payments becoming a natural part of digital experiences instead of something people think about separately.
Kirk Stuart, Senior Vice President, Head of North America Enablers, Merchants and Fintechs at Visa, said, “Consumers expect payments to be embedded into the digital experiences they use every day. By bringing together Samsung’s innovation, Barclays’ co brand capabilities, and Visa’s trusted network, Samsung Galaxy Card delivers a connected experience that helps consumers earn rewards while providing the security and acceptance needed to support commerce wherever they choose to shop.”
