About Simpro
Simpro was founded to solve a problem that remains central to field service businesses today: running complex operations across disconnected systems, spreadsheets and manual processes. Over more than two decades, the company has evolved from field service management software into an AI-first operating platform built specifically for the trades.
Today, more than 24,000 trade businesses and 450,000 users across the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom use Simpro, AroFlo, BigChange and ClockShark to manage their operations. The platforms support roughly 2 million jobs every week across industries including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, security, fire and solar.
A core challenge Simpro has helped address is the technology gap facing small and midsize trade businesses. These companies operate essential services but often work with tight margins and limited administrative capacity. Simpro built its software around their specific workflows, bringing scheduling, quoting, job management, inventory, invoicing and workforce management into a single operating environment.
In 2026, Simpro is pushing vertical SaaS into its next phase with the launch of Lightning, a purpose-built, AI-native operating platform for the field service trades. Rather than treating AI as an add-on feature, Lightning makes AI an operating layer across Simpro, AroFlo and BigChange. At its centre is Cooper, an AI system designed to work with each business’s own data, alongside a growing team of specialised AI agents that supplement the human workforce.
The impact is also changing how SaaS itself is developed. With AI embedded into product development, routine feature requests that previously took two to three quarters can now ship in weeks, while new AI agents are being added monthly. This creates a different model for vertical SaaS: software is no longer simply a system businesses use to record and manage work, but an intelligent operating layer that can actively help them perform it.
Simpro is also addressing a fundamental economic challenge in the trades. Field service businesses typically operate with industry profit margins of only 5 to 10 percent, making productivity and efficiency especially important. Lightning is designed to help businesses increase capacity without proportionally increasing headcount, from preparing technicians for jobs and capturing job documentation to automating customer communications and surfacing operational insights.
Through this evolution, Simpro has contributed to the SaaS ecosystem by demonstrating the potential of deeply specialised vertical software and helping define what AI-native SaaS can look like in practice. Its focus is no longer simply digitizing an industry. It is building an intelligent operating platform designed to help the businesses that keep modern infrastructure running become more productive, more scalable and more profitable.
