About King of the Curve

King of the Curve is an education software company founded in 2020 to make high-stakes exam preparation more engaging and accessible. It combines mobile and web learning, gamified practice, personalised study support and progress analytics for students pursuing healthcare careers and other demanding exams.

The company began with MCAT preparation and developed into a broader learning platform. Students can subscribe directly, while colleges and education programs can license tools for their learners. Its Noteflix product extends the ecosystem by turning notes and study materials into AI-powered video learning experiences.

The central challenge has been connecting useful learning content with sustained engagement. A student needs more than a large library of resources: they need to identify knowledge gaps, keep practising and see progress. KOTC brings those needs into a shared workflow. Institutional distribution adds another route to learners and helps connect individual preparation with program-level support.

Washington University reported in July 2025 that King of the Curve had reached more than 500,000 students. Its public company site describes institutional relationships with Ponce Health Sciences University and Florida Southern College. Recognition includes Forbes 30 Under 30 Education, the WashU Global Impact Award and the 2025 St. Louis Inno Madness and Fire Awards.

Co-founder and CEO Heath Rutledge-Jukes combines a psychology background, medical training at Washington University and software product development. Co-founder William Kelly brings accounting and finance training, prior Deloitte experience and a focus on growth and institutional relationships. Together, the team is building education SaaS around both learner experience and institutional adoption.

The company illustrates how focused vertical SaaS can grow from a specific learning problem into a broader suite of tools while keeping its core audience and use case clear.
