From The Bar to Breaking The Laws of Physics: Beating Big Beverage At Their Own Game

—By James Vyse, Founder of Cool Can—

For decades, the world’s biggest drinks giants have poured millions into chasing what felt impossible, a self-cooling can. Every one of them came up short. But I wasn’t working in a corporate lab with endless resources, I was a former mixologist tinkering in my invention room. And somehow, I cracked it.

James Vyse: The Underdog Who Refused to Accept ‘Impossible’

I wasn’t born into wealth or privilege.

I grew up in a modest council house, living off tinned food and the occasional treat from the corner shop. But I found my passion early, drinks. Not just drinking them, but understanding them, crafting them, elevating them.

That passion led me behind the bar, where I eventually became one of London’s most in-demand mixologists. I worked in the city’s most exclusive venues, serving cocktails to celebrities, royalty, and some of the world’s most elite clientele.

But there was always something that bugged me.

People would spend £15 on a beautifully crafted cocktail, and by the time they got halfway through, it was warm. And outside the bar? Even worse, flat, tepid beer at festivals, melted cocktails at summer parties. I kept thinking: Why do drinks have to rely on fridges? Why can’t they cool themselves? That thought wouldn’t leave me alone.

The biggest drinks companies in the world couldn’t crack it, but I believed I could. Even if I had to figure it out on my own.

From Bedroom Experiments to Breaking Beverage Science

I had no formal engineering background. No corporate funding. Just an idea I couldn’t shake and an obsession to make it real. So, I started experimenting. Nights, weekends, whatever spare time I had, I spent it designing, tweaking, testing. The first few prototypes were complete failures. So were the next fifty. But I kept going.

The Cool Can: The World’s First True Self- Chilling Beverage Can

Prototype number 537, or somewhere around there, is when it finally clicked. I’d built a mechanism that could take a canned drink from room temperature to ice-cold in under two minutes. No fridge. No ice. Just the push of a button.

The Cool Can requires zero electricity, just press the button, chill your drink, and enjoy. It works in under two minutes, which means no more waiting around or settling for warm beverages on the go. On top of that, it’s 100% recyclable, making it an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fridge-dependent cooling. We’ve filed patents to protect what we truly believe is a first in the industry, a simple yet revolutionary way to keep drinks cold anytime, anywhere.

The result?

The very same corporate giants who once overlooked this idea are now coming to us. We’ve attracted major interest from household drink names across the globe.

Our crowdfunding campaign didn’t just meet its target it smashed it, raising £300,000 against a goal of £150,000. Beyond the business success, the Cool Can has the potential to create a significant sustainability impact by reducing reliance on global refrigeration, which is a huge win for the environment.

More Than Innovation: It’s an Industry Uprising

Beverage refrigeration accounts for somewhere around 17% of the world’s electricity consumption. Our Cool Can eliminates the need for energy-draining fridges, making it the first-ever on- demand cooling solution for the drink industry.

From festivals and outdoor adventures to high-end mixology, the Cool Can is the next revolution in drinking culture. And it all started with a mixologist who refused to accept “impossible.” DeltaH Innovations is changing the game.

And this is just the beginning.
