Our Startup of the Week for this week is Photoneo – a leading provider of AI-powered automation solutions, robotic intelligence software and industrial 3D vision. The company are on a mission to “give vision and intelligence to robots all over the world so they can see and understand with a clear goal – to automate monotonous and risky tasks by employing vision- guided robots.” 

In providing such intelligence to robots, Photoneo is helping businesses to enhance their performance and improve their efficiency, their technology being particularly useful for those in the automotive, logistics, food, e-commerce and medical industries.

Photoneo was founded by Jan Zizka, Tomas Kovacovsky and Michal Maly, all of the three entrepreneurs holding impressive backgrounds – Jan with a PhD and having played around with optics, cameras and algorithms at MIT, Tomas being an expert in Computer Vision and Computational Photography and being named by Forbes as amongst the 30 brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers, and Michal having published a solution for secure distributed computing with a PhD in the field of AI and Computer Science.

The company now have over 140 employees across four different countries, and have won multiple awards over years, including inspect award 2021, IERA Award 2020, Vision Systems Design 2019 and 2018 Innovators Awards, Vision Award 2018 and an inVISION Top Innovations 2021 and 2019 award.

The company have also developed a 3D camera with the highest resolution and accuracy in the world, which is based on patented 3D technology.
