Founded in 2015, Getir is on a mission to make grocery delivery services quicker and more accessible, delivering groceries in minutes right to customers’ front doors.
The idea for Getir was inspired by co-founder Nazım Salur’s first tech startup – a taxi app connecting passengers with taxi drivers and being a first in Turkey to introduce credit card payments for taxis. The startup is a leading taxi app in Turkey, offering passengers rides in 3 minutes, which got Salur wondering “why not bring people their everyday needs in around 10 minutes?”
The startup offers a range of everyday products (over 1,500), including snacks, fresh produce, drinks and more from well known, and well loved, brands. Getir also delivers day and night, with no need to book a delivery slot, and promises no substitutions – with real-time inventory helping customers to get exactly what they ordered – “Exactly how it should be.” Getir state.
Since its launch, the company has evolved to create sub-brands, known as Getir Food, Getir More and GetirWater. While based in Instanbul, Getir operates in major areas across the UK, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, Southampton, Portsmouth and Sheffield.
So far, the company have raised a whopping $1 billion over the course of 6 funding rounds, their latest, a Series D, announced in June this year.
