BOSCO™ helps retailers who sell online organise all their marketing activity and sales data into one place. Using AI and Machine learning, they deliver actionable insights on which channel they should be moving budgets to, or investing new budgets into.
John Readman founded the business in September 2019 with backing from Bonamy Grimes, the founder of Skyscanner. With the Skyscanner connection, John headed off to dominate the travel market – planning to help travel companies optimise their online marketing with the BOSCO™ tech idea and inhousing services.
As COVID-19 took hold, this decision to focus on travel was less than ideal. They had to pivot our focus and plans to target retail and ecommerce – quickly they invented the BOSCO™ Index – which benchmarks retailers’ online visibility and performance vs their peers. Since the focus on retail, they have signed up both brands directly and agencies who support retailers to the BOSCO™ platform.
In 2020 they successfully gained a grant from the local Yorkshire LEP of £20k to help them build out a proof of concept that meant they could build BOSCO™. In January 2021 they received a six-figure sum from Innovate UK, The Sustainable Innovation Fund, which enabled them to recruit more data engineers and developers and help them accelerate the development of BOSCO™
They now have 40+ global clients using BOSCO™ including, Pavers, SigmaSports, Castore, Jones the Bootmaker, Whitewall Galleries, OnBuy and Cult Beauty. In addition to the direct clients, they have an emerging agency partner network including HAVAS, Greenlight, Mediacom and Dentsu who use BOSCO™ as a white-label or API solution to support their clients.
They have also recently launched tech partnerships model with Mediatel. In the last few weeks, they have been confirmed as a Shopify partner and are integrating the BOSCO™ Index into the Shopify dashboard within their e-commerce platform. This significant partnership will be fully launched at NRF in New York in Jan 2022. At NRF they also plan to launch the BOSCO™ platform for the US. They have grown the team over the last 2 years (during the pandemic!) from 2 to 35 and plan to grow this to 50+ in 2022. In the next few weeks they also have some exciting funding news to announce.
2022 will be a further year of growth and scale for Modo25 and BOSCO™.
