About Molly and Books That Matter
Books That Matter was born in Molly’s second year of university. A lover of literature written by women, and a feminist herself, Molly wanted to bring women’s writing to an accessible and affordable platform. She took the idea of a feminist book subscription service to an entrepreneurship competition with no prior business experience, and became the first female winner.
With her £10,000 investment secured, Molly was able to start Books That Matter. Since then, she has won Female Start-Up of the Year, and been a finalist for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. She has also appeared on the TV show Dragon’s Den.
Books That Matter offers a monthly box that contains one piece of fiction by a female or non-binary author, a bookmark, 3 gifts, and a magazine containing themed content from recipes to author interviews. Each £17 box covers a unique theme. In the past, they have provided boxes based on self-care, Black Women’s History Month, and witchcraft. They have also run collaborations with Penguin Random House, Elif Shafak, and the Women’s Prize for Fiction.
All their boxes are made with sustainable materials, and they work with a range of publishers, including small indie publications. Their brand is invested in sustainability and inclusivity, and they platform a diverse range of authors.
Molly currently leads an all-female team, and her company has been featured in Forbes, Stylist, the London Evening Standard.
