About Morven, Debbie & Selaura

Selaura’s mission is to help women to continue to live – and love – their lives by redressing the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. That’s why they developed Selaura – the new supplement curated to support the 48 symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.

While there are currently 13 million menopausal women in the UK, this demographic has historically been under-served and largely overlooked. Selaura aims to change this. Selaura can be used as a natural alternative to, or alongside HRT, giving women the choice to manage their symptoms in whichever way suits them. With aesthetic branding and beautifully designed packaging, the aim is for women feel they are “gifting” themselves better health. In addition, Selaura supports the movement to lessen the taboo surrounding the perimenopause and menopause and bring the discussion on symptoms and how they affect women in mid-life into the main-stream.

The 48 symptoms of perimenopause are diverse, ranging from the more well-known such as hot flushes, anxiety and brain fog, to the lesser known of aching joints, digestive issues and fatigue. Approximately 10% of women experience symptoms for up to 12 years. The challenge in creating the formula was to find ingredients to support these mental, physical and emotional symptoms.

Selaura was created by working with some of the world’s leading nutraceutical companies, with every ingredient clinically proven. The result is a single-solution supplement backed by science, using optimal dosage levels for fast results. Selaura contains 12 high quality, sustainably sourced and vegan ingredients.
Feed-back so far has been extremely positive, with over 50 % of customers subscribing for 3 months or more.

The Founders

Morven was an intellectual property lawyer, who helped found the boutique technology venture capital law firm JAG Shaw Baker and was Managing Partner there for a number of years until it was sold to international law firm Withers in 2018. Since then, Morven has been involved as a mentor, director, legal consultant and seed investor to a number of start-ups, all while looking for a “passion project” which she has now well and truly found with Selaura.

Debbie is a holistic therapist with 20 years’ professional experience in this sector and was key to guiding the supplement’s formula. She was clear that Selaura had to be a premium supplement with maximum efficacy to support the ongoing health and wellbeing of women from their 40s and beyond.

Selaura was conceived, researched and developed in 2020/21, during the pandemic, by co-founders Morven Shaw and Debbie Wheeler who both suffered the effects of perimenopause and early menopause.

They quickly realised that there was very little in the market of premium supplements, with clinically-proven ingredients at targeting hormonal change in various life stages. Selaura is their first product and they have other products under development targeting these life stages.

The subscription based, D2C company is female founded and female run, with no external capital. Selaura has completed its proof-of-concept trial and initial market testing for its first product, is now looking to expand rapidly, and is currently seeking external investment.

Supporting women worldwide is key to Selaura to empower women. 5% of all profits are committed to supporting female charities.
